The first issue of JASSS was published in January. Then I had no idea whether we would have enough readers and contributors to make the Journal viable. However, my worries have proved unfounded so far: this third issue includes more articles and reviews than earlier ones, and the number of readers continues to grow steadily.

here . The data are derived from the web server log records. The log contains the internet addresses of every computer which accesses the Journal, so we can tell how many computers read it, but not exactly how many humans do!
Two of the articles in this issue were originally presented at the third SimSoc workshop, hosted by Bibb Latané and held in Boca Raton, Florida, USA in September 1995. They are
