Matthias Nickles

Matthias Nickles is a postdoc researcher and a member of the Artificial Intelligence/Cognition group at the Technical University of Munich. He holds a diploma in Computer Science (minor Psychology) from the University of Munich and a PhD (summa cum laude) in Informatics from the Technical University of Munich. His current research is mainly on AI and agent communication, and on open ontologies and open knowledge bases for the Semantic Web.

Michael Rovatsos

Michael Rovatsos is a Lecturer with the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh where he leads the newly founded Agents Group at the Centre for Intelligent Systems and their Applications. Marco Schmitt

Marco Schmitt studied sociology at the University of Hamburg. He is a Graduate Research Assistant and PhD student at the Department of Technology Assessment at the Hamburg University of Technology. For the past three years he conducted basic research on the simulation of communication patterns in the focus program socionics of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

Wilfried Brauer

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wilfried Brauer is a full professor of Informatics since 1971 (first at the University of Hamburg, since 1985 at Technical University Munich). His research and teaching is in the field of theoretical informatics and foundations of Artificial Intelligence. Felix Fischer

Felix Fischer is a research associate and PhD student at the Department of Informatics, Technical University of Munich, Germany. His current research as a member of the the AI/Cognition Group is concerned with logical and game-theoretic modelling and analysis of action and interaction in open environments. After receiving his Diploma in Informatics from TUM, he also worked in the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Group as a graduate research assistant.

Thomas Malsch

CURRICULUM VITAE Thomas Malsch is since 1996 the head of the institute of technology and society at the technical university of Hamburg. From 1966 until 1972 he studied sociology at the FU in Berlin. (1972 diploma in sociology, 1975 graduation dr. rer. pol., 1985 habilitation). From 1972 - 1980 he worked as a researcher at FU Berlin. From 1982 - 1989 he was a research fellow at Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB). 1989 he became the head of the department for "technology and society" at the university in Dortmund. His main research interests are the social impacts of the new communication technologies. Currently, he is the coordinator of the Priority Programme "Socionics - investigating and modelling artificial societies" (1999 - 2005), established by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Kai Paetow

Dr. Kai Paetow studied sociology, philosophy and political science at University of Hamburg and at the New School for Social Research in New York (1992 - 1998). He received his diploma in sociology in 1998, and was a PhD student and research assistent at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg from 1999 to 2003. Main research topics: socionics, social theory, organizational theory. He received his PhD at University of Hamburg in Mai 2005. Topic of doctoral thesis: "Organisationsidentitaet" (organizational identity).

Gerhard Weiss

Dr. Gerhard Weiss leads the AI/Cognition Group at the chair for Theoretical Informatics and Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (headed by Prof. Dr. W. Brauer) of Technical University of Munich since September 1997. His main interests have been in computational intelligent and autonomous systems in general, and in the foundations and application of agent and multiagent technology in particular.
