Rob J. Nadolski

Rob Nadolski holds a PhD in Educational Technology (from the OUNL). Currently Rob works as Assistant Professor at CELSTEC and his main research interests are (navigation in) learning networks, learning technology specification, serious games and competence-based education. As educational technologist, he has lead and participated in multi-disciplinary teams in the design and development of dozens of interactive multimedia computer programs for a variety of domains within distance teaching.

Adriana J. Berlanga

Adriana Berlanga holds a PhD in Computer Science, degrees in Educational Technology and Didactics (from the University of Salamanca, Spain), and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science (from the ITESM, Mexico). Currently Adriana works as Assistant Professor at CELSTEC and her main research interest is technology enhanced learning for lifelong learning. Particularly, learner's navigation support, learning technology standards and specifications, policies and functionalities to foster interaction and participation in Learning Networks, and ePortfolios.

Hendrik Drachsler

Hendrik Drachsler degrees in Computer Science and Pedagogy at the University of Duisburg, Germany. Currently, he is doing his PhD in Educational Technology at the Open University of the Netherlands. His research interest is navigation in informal learning networks through the support of recommender systems and user modeling. He has further experiences in the development of medical simulations for sensorimotor competence development.

Hans Hummel holds a PhD in Educational Technology (from the OUNL) and degrees in Pedagogy and Educational Psychology (from the University of Leiden, Netherlands). Rob Koper

Rob Koper is Professor of Educational Technology, Dean of the Centre for Learning Sciences and Technologies (CELSTEC ) of the Open University of the Netherlands. CELSTEC has among other activities, research programmes in the field of cognitive aspects of instructional design, learning networks for non-formal learning and learning media. Furthermore CELSTEC has an extensive Ph.D. programme in these fields. His personal research is in the field of learning networks, personal competence development and learning design technologies. He is also the project co-ordinator of the EU Integrated Project TENCompetence(www.tencompetence.org). Publications can be found at dspace.ou.nl (or google scholar).

Peter B. Sloep

Peter Sloep is the Programme Director of the CELSTEC Research and Technology Development Programme. This programme employs about 30 educational technologists and software developers. Until 2007 Dr. Sloep also was a professor in Educational Functions of ICT at the Fontys University of Professional Education's School of Education. He is one of the founders of the Virtual Company - a simulated company in which heterogeneous virtual teams of students carry out authentic project assignments while developing their individual competencies. His current research interest include distributed learning systems, particularly the technical affordances – including specifications for interoperability - and the social aspects of learning networks that are conducive to the emergence of a viable learning and working environment for lifelong learning. Dr. Sloep was part of the team that brought the OUNL's proprietary EML specification to the attention of the CEN/ISSS workshop on learning technologies and Educause's IMS, and subsequently successfully managed for it to become the IMS Learning Design specification.
