Thomas Brenner
Thomas Brenner received a Diplom degree in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Physics in 1995 from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He also received a Ph.D. in Economics from the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany, in 1998. After working at the Max Planck Institute of Economics in Jena as a Senior Researcher and Associate Director, he became full Professor for Economic Geography at the Philipps University Marburg, Germany, in 2007. His current research focuses on industrial clusters, spatial economics and regional innovation systems. He uses mathematical modelling, simulations and statistical methods.

Claudia Werker
Claudia Werker has been holding a teaching and research position in economics at Delft University of Technology since September 2007. She obtained her master degree in economics (Diplom-Volkswirtin) from the University of Konstanz, Germany, and her PhD-degree (Dr. rer. pol.) from Freiberg University of Technology, Germany (summa cum laude). Claudia Werker has served as a referee for the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research as well as for numerous scientific journals (e.g. Research Policy, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of Evolutionary Economics). She is a member of the International Schumpeter Society and the Committee of Evolutionary Economists of Verein für Socialpolitik.
