Alan Baker
Alan Baker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Swarthmore College. He received his PhD in Philosophy from Princeton University in 1999. His main areas of research lie in philosophy of science and in philosophy of mathematics. In 2008, he received a 'New Directions' Fellowship from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to spend the 2008-9 academic year in the UK studying complexity science, and this has led to a new focus on issues connected with emergence, simulation, and complex systems.
