Massimo Mastrangeli

Massimo Mastrangeli is a post-doctoral researcher at the Distributed Intelligent Systems ans Algorithms Laboratory of Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Lausanne, CH), investigating the modeling and enabling of self-organization in distributed systems of interacting agents. Massimo received the PhD degree in Materials Engineering from the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering of the Catholic University of Leuven (Leuven, BE). In his doctoral dissertation, realized in collaboration with Imec (Leuven, BE), he developed fluidic self-assembly techniques for the integration of complex heterogeneous microsystems. During this appointment, he was also visiting scholar at the University of Washington (Seattle, WA, USA), the Santa Fe Institute (Santa Fe, NM, USA) and the Free University of Bruxelles (ULB, Bruxelles, BE). His interests and background also include complex systems, music, satire, science divulgation, philosophical enquiries.
