Matthew Oremland
Matthew Oremland is a Ph.D. student in the Mathematics department at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His area of interest is mathematical analysis of agent-based models. In particular, he is interested in developing techniques for solving optimization and optimal control problems with agent-based models. These techniques include simulation optimization as well as more mathematically rigorous strategies such as the transformation of agent-based models to discrete recursive equations.

Reinhard Laubenbacher
Reinhard Laubenbacher is co-director of the Center for Quantitative Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center. A mathematician by training, his research is focused on computational systems biology, including the development of mathematical algorithms, their software implementation, and applications to the modeling and simulation of disease processes, in particular cancer and infectious diseases. Of particular interest is the development of algorithms to infer molecular interaction networks from experimental data sets.
