Jonathan Ozik

Jonathan Ozik, Ph.D., is a computational scientist and Agent-based Modeling Section Manager in the Social and Behavioral Systems Group within the Systems Science Center in the Global Security Sciences Division of Argonne National Laboratory. He is also Senior Fellow in the Computation Institute at the University of Chicago. His research focus is in the broad and emerging field of social computation and the modeling of social complex systems. He is the project lead for the ReLogo framework and co-lead for the statecharts framework, both part of the widely used, free and open source Repast Simphony agent-based modeling toolkit. He is a member of the INFORMS-Simulation Society and ACM.

Nicholson Collier

Nicholson Collier, Ph.D., is a software engineer in the Social and Behavioral Systems Group within the Systems Science Center in the Global Security Sciences Division of Argonne National Laboratory and a staff member in the Computation Institute at the University of Chicago. He has over 15 years experience in designing and implementing simulation and visualization frameworks and applications for government agencies, private industry and academia. Dr. Collier’s primary focus is on simulation toolkit and model design and implementation. He has an additional focus on the development of advanced visualization tools, software design and programming language implementation.

Todd Combs

Todd Combs, Ph.D., is the Director of the Global Security Sciences Division at Argonne National Laboratory. His research has spanned energy systems analysis and the application of modeling and simulation techniques to national and homeland security issues. His current work is focused on the development of an agent-based model to study the critical materials market. His research interests also include discrete event and agent-based modeling, optimization using the integration of meta-heuristic search and exact methods, and the application of operations research methods to study issues of national significance.

Charles M. Macal

Charles M. Macal, Ph.D., P.E. is the Social and Behavioral Systems Group Leader within the Systems Science Center in the Global Security Sciences Division of Argonne National Laboratory, and Senior Fellow in the Computation Institute at the University of Chicago. He has over 30 years of experience developing and applying simulation models for industry, government, and academia. Dr. Macal serves on the editorial boards of several simulation publications. He is a member of the INFORMS-Simulation Society, ACM, IEEE, Society for Computer Simulation International, and the System Dynamics Society. Dr. Macal is a principal investigator for the Repast project.

Michael North

Michael J. North, MBA, Ph.D. is the Integrated Analytics Group Leader within the Systems Science Center in the Global Security Sciences Division of Argonne National Laboratory. He is also a Senior Fellow in the joint Computation Institute of the University of Chicago and Argonne. Dr. North has over 20 years of experience developing and applying models for industry, government, and academia. Dr. North has published two books, five conference proceedings, one journal special issue, eight book chapters, 20 journal articles, four invited encyclopedia entries, and over 70 conference papers. Dr. North is the lead developer of Repast.
