John Kemp is a senior lecturer in economics at the Manchester Metropolitan University where his main teaching is in microeconomic theory. He also teaches a short course in introductory economic dynamics and some aspects of industrial economics. He trained in economics at the University of Sheffield. He has published a number of papers dealing with the uncertainty, industrial concentration, chaos theory and the application of the concept of lock-in to monetary regimes. He is currently researching (with Ted Wilson) into the development of standardisation in technologies and socio-economic regimes.
