Sophie Thoyer is a senior lecturer at the department of agricultural economics at ENSAM, Montpellier. She has a PhD in economics from the University of London and worked as a lecturer for three years in the department of agricultural economics at Wye College. Her main research work focuses on the political economy of agricultural and environmental reforms, with a particular focus on the modelling of negotiation processes both at the local level (water management) and at the international level (WTO, convention on the biological diversity)

Sylvie Morardet is a senior researcher in the irrigation department of Cemagref (national research institute on engineering techniques applied to water and forests). She is in charge of the economics unit and works mostly on the economic assessment of irrigation water management reforms in France with linear programming techniques.
