Dietrich Stauffer has been professor of theoretical physics since 1977 at Cologne University. His most cited work is the book Introduction to Percolation Theory, Taylor and Francis, London 1985, 1992, 1994. More relevant to JASSS readers is the book by S. Moss de Oliveira, P.M.C. de Oliveira and D. Stauffer, Evolution, Money, War and Computers, Teubner, Leipzig-Stuttgart 1999, on non-traditional applications of computational statistical physics. He holds the world record in the size of simulated Ising models.
