Mike Duijn, M. Sc., has worked as a researcher / consultant with the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) since 1998. Before that he was working with several municipalties in the south of The Netherlands and with the Institute of Applied Social Sciences in Nijmegen. He graduated in 1994 at Tilburg University in policy and management sciences. He is specialized in designing and implementing interactive approaches and tools of policy making, such as gaming/simulation, brainstorms and designworkshops. He is currently working on his Ph.D. thesis on interactive policy making and learning processes.

Prof. Ben Immers first worked as a research fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Transport Research, where he participated in several national and international research projects. In 1976 he accepted a post as lecturer in Transportation Planning and Transportation Modelling at the University of Delft. In 1985 he became associa-te professor at the same department. In 1992 he was appointed as director of the Delft Insti-tute for Transport, Infrastructure and Logis-tics (TRAIL). Since August 1993 Ben Immers has been working at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). His re-search interests include a var-iety of sub-jects in the field of Transpor-tation Plan-ning and Transpor-tation Modelling such as the applicati-on of optimisation models in the tra-ns-portation planning process, devel-opment of information systems for the transport sector, dynamic traf-fic management, combined and inte-grated freight transport chains, traf-fic and the environment and the relation between (tele)communi-cation net-works and the physical distribution pattern of activi-ties. He has frequently participated as a technical adviser in national planning activi-ties related to traffic management, transporta-tion planning and transportation modelling. He participated in several international commit-tees (TRB, WCTR) on Transport modelling, Trans-port and Environ-ment, and Transport system man-agement.
In 1996 Ben Immers accepted a position as part-time university professor in transportation planning and highway engineering at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium).
