Sergio Margarita is associate professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Statistics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Torino, Italy, and is director of LIASES (Laboratory of Applied Computer Science) of the Faculty of Economics. His interests include modelling economic and financial systems, artificial intelligence and agent-based simulations of artificial systems. The author's research focus is on these themes and on Open Source for economic applications. He is one of the authors of the book "Neural networks for economic and financial modelling", 1996.

Michele Sonnessa is a PhD student of Simulation Models at the University of Torino, Italy. His main interest concerns the comparison and the integration of different simulation techniques, such as System Dynamics, Process Simulation and Agent-Based Modelling.He is administrator of the JAS project (http://jaslibrary.sourceforge.net).
