Claudia Pahl-Wostl is professor for the 'Management of Resource Flows' an endowed chair of the German Environmental Foundation at the Institute of Environmental Systems Research, University of Osnabrück. The new research field is devoted to developing innovative concepts of managing transformation processes towards sustainability with an emphasis on an improved understanding of dynamics and management of actor networks and the development of indicators for environmental, economic and social sustainability. She is particularly interested in participatory agent based social simulation. New approaches were developed and applied in the context of the EU FP5 project FIRMA (Freshwater Integrated Resource Management with Agents). Currently Claudia Pahl-Wostl is coordinating the EU project HarmoniCOP (Harmonizing Collaborative Planning - http://www.harmonicop.info) on processes of social learning and the role of ICT tools in river basin management. The current interdisciplinary research team comprises socio-economists, regional planners, geographers, computer scientists, psychologists, experts in artificial intelligence and system scientists.

Eva Ebenhöh is working as a research assistant at the Institute of Environmental Systems Research at the University of Osnabrück. Her work focusses on the implementation of human decision making as multi agent models. She has a degree in Applied Systems Science and her diploma thesis was titled 'Foreign debts of developing countries and sustainable development'.
