Peter Andras

Dr Peter Andras is a Reader in Complex Systems and Computational Intelligence in the School of Computing Science of the University of Newcastle. Previously he has been in the Department of Psychology of the University of Newcastle, the Department of Computer Science of the University of Maastricht and he worked as the director of the Civitas Foundation for the Civil Society in Cluj, Romania. His main interests are in the area of information processing in complex systems. His current projects are about simulation and analysis of evolution of cooperation, network analysis of protein interaction systems, computational neuroscience, and the theory of abstract communication systems.

John Lazarus

John Lazarus is Reader in Animal Behaviour in the Psychology, Brain & Behaviour group within the School of Biology of the University of Newcastle. His main research interests are the evolution of cooperation, adaptive variation of the human birth sex ratio and human mate choice. He has been editor of the journals Animal Behaviour and Ethology.

Gilbert Roberts

Gilbert Roberts is a Senior Lecturer in the Psychology, Brain & Behaviour group within the School of Biology, University of Newcastle. Previously he has been Royal Society Australian Fellow at the University of Melbourne and Lord Adams Fellow at the University of Newcastle. His research interests are in the evolution of behaviour in humans and other animals, particularly cooperative behaviour. Currently he is focussing on developing theories that provide alternatives to reciprocal altruism as an explanation for cooperation. He is also testing these theories using experimental cooperative games.

Steven J Lynden

Dr Steven Lynden received his BSc (Computer Science, 1999) and PhD (multi-agent systems, 2004) from Cardiff University. He worked as a research associate at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne where his research focused on the development of computational techniques for the analysis of complex networks. Dr Lynden is currently a research associate in the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester, where his work focuses on data integration systems for the Grid. His research interests focus on distributed systems, particularly in the areas of multi-agent systems and Grid computing.
